ETI awarded The Pier Shops at Caesars Contract

We are pleased to announce that ETI has been awarded The Pier Shops at Caesars contract. ETI was chosen to provide Information Technology products & services and T1 Internet services to The Pier Shops. The Pier management and ETI management have worked together since early 2005 to plan and provision the Information Technology needs of The Pier mall. In addition, ETI will provide Project Management of Information Technology implementations in the Mall to coordinate and ensure smooth implementation of all vendors including Verizon, Comcast and Security system vendors. ETI will source all computing equipment for The Pier.

The Pier Shops at Caesars is a premier shopping mall located behind the Caesars Casino in Atlantic City. The building extends from the boardwalk into the Atlantic Ocean and provides a view like none other to shoppers and visitors. Dialing Change in Texas

Starting on February 15th, 2003, the way that ETI customers in Texas make local calls is changing. Local callers in the 903 area code will need to dial 10 digits (the area code plus the seven-digit number) to make local phone calls. Users who dial only seven digits will hear a recording telling them that they must redial to complete the call.

The method for dialing long-distance calls within the 903 area code region will not change. Callers will continue to dial "1" plus the area code, plus the seven-digit number.

Local telephone line providers are making this change in order to introduce a new 430 area code in Texas. This new area code will serve the same geographical region as the existing 903 area code. Creation of this new area code will not affect rates or local calling areas. Calls which are local today will remain local after the 10-digit dialing goes into effect on February 15.

While we always strive to provide as much advanced warning of area code changes as we can, advanced warning for such changes vary greatly from provider to provider.

Dialing Change: New York

The way local calls are made in New York is changing. Starting on February 1, 2003, local calls in the 212, 718, 917, 646, and 347 area codes will only be completed by dialing "1" plus the area code, plus the seven digit number. For example, if you make a call from a number in the 718 area code to another 718 area code, dial a "1" plus the 718 area code followed by the seven digit number.

The current seven digit dialing will be allowed from now until February 1, 2003. To help in the transition, the new "1" plus area code dialing is now also being allowed by the phone carrier for these area codes.

Area Code Change in South Florida

This is to inform you of an area code change that will very soon become final in certain areas of what is now the 561 area code, serving South Florida and Miami.

Several numbers at the two Florida dial-up locations will change area codes (from 561 to 772) on Monday, November 11. These are:

Area Code Changes in Michigan

We have learned of a change which will very soon become final in certain areas of what is now the 810 area code, in the Detroit, MI serice region.

While we always strive to provide as much advanced warning of area code changes as we can, advanced warning for such changes vary greatly from provider to provider.

Two numbers at the Detroit POP location will change area codes (from 810 to 586) on Saturday, March 23. These are:

Callers can dial the new area code immediately, but 810 will cease to connect as of March 23.

Area Code Changes in Northern Chicago Suburbs

Due to telephone company plans to overlay area codes in the northern Chicago suburbs, beginning January 5, 2002, users in area code 847 will be required to use 11-digit dialing in order to connect. The 11-digit dialing will be in effect through December, but will not become mandatory until January 5.

Our existing access numbers will not change, but the area code must be dialed, even for calls within the local calling area.

Beginning in December, new phone, cellular, paging, and alarm services in the northern Chicago will be issued numbers with the 224 area code. If you need more information regarding this, please click here.

Area Code Changes in Detroit area

This is to inform you of an area code change that recently took place in Michigan which affected six of our access numbers originating from the Detroit POP.

Because callers who live within the local range of these numbers need not dial an area code to get connected, this is not expected to impact connectivity for such users, who have been dialing the same unchanged seven digits. In addition, residents of this area are no doubt aware of the recent split and to which regions it pertains.

Try as we might to get advance warning from our vendors as to the details of changes like these, this does not always happen. The new area codes are already in effect, and long distance testing proves this. We have now adjusted all our website resources pertaining to access numbers for the area.

ETI founder's positive economic view featured in IndUS Business Journal report

The lead article in the October issue of IndUS Business Journal, entitled "Experts: Long-term economic prospects still good", cites ETI's founder among the business leaders providing observations about the current economic outlook:

“If we take a look at the simple economics of the situation, this year of 2001 has been a difficult environment for any high-tech company,” said Adhish Desai, founder and president of Berlin, N.J.-based ETI, an Internet service provider.

“We are one of the many that were impacted by the economy as it was prior to the tragedy. With the tragedy, it raises many more questions as to what can be done to prevent a fullout recession.”

Desai, along with other South Asian business leaders, believes that a long-term engagement by the United States in an active anti-terrorism campaign could spur economic recovery, but only if labor contracts issued by the U.S. government are spread across all industries, not just defense.

“If we retaliate, defense stocks are going to grow. Yes, certain defense contracts will be issued to the tech industry as well. However, one has to look at the balance.”

Message from the Founder, ETI

It is indeed difficult to find the words of expression for the grief and pain relating to the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Team ETI would like to extend our sympathies to all who were directly affected by this horrific tragedy. Our prayers are with you and your loved ones in this time of despair. To all, we express our sincere and heartfelt concern by joining you in remembering all that we have lost in this tragic event, an event that will mark our lives forever. Let us remember all those who were lost, including the people on the planes, the people in the WTC towers, the people in Pentagon, the people in the Pittsburgh crash and let us not forget those that are working so diligently these past few days in rescue and recovery efforts.

Like all Americans we are in a state of utter shock and dismay at the events of that day. These are memories we might not wish to carry with us into the future; however, those events did happen and we must remember them for our children, so that they may learn and understand. We must reach out to each other, to help each other and unite in strength and in prayer as we continue to stand proud as Americans. We join with all Americans across the nation and with the rest of the world to condemn these actions. We ask every American to stand up and speak out, so that the world may know that our resolve will not falter.

Internet access in New York and Washington, DC, impacted by September 11 attack

Due to the tragic events in New York City and Washington, DC, our service in five of our East coast Points of Presence (POPs) has been seriously affected. Two providers located in the vicinity of the World Trade Center were directly affected by these incidents and consequently, our network in that area has been experiencing some problems.

The POPs affected are:

Power to facilities is down due to damage in the area. Sites are currently running on generator power; however, due to recovery operations occurring in the area, refueling attempts have been limited.

A total of 32 DS-3s are currently down, due to damage to the Verizon facilities located 300 yards from the World Trade Center. Our vendor has been working diligently with the providers to re-route traffic and find the quickest solution to the outages.

We have no ETR at this time, which is pending rescue operations. All updates will posted here. If you have any questions, please contact us at our Customer Care number, 1-877-384-7811.

We apologize for the inconvenience these outages may cause you; we are devoting our best efforts to bringing service back to normal as soon as possible under these circumstances.

Area Code Changes in Boston/Eastern MA

New area codes are being instituted in Eastern Massachusetts/ Boston. This change will affect the way that access numbers are dialed by our customers within that calling area.

Although our Massachusetts customers will be well aware of this change (because of local media), please note that it will become necessary to dial the full 10 digits to reach local access numbers as of April 1, 2001. This does not mean that any of our access numbers are changing in any way.

On September 15, 2000, four new area codes were implemented for use in Eastern, MA. These area codes were overlaid over existing area codes and "permissive" 10-digit dialing began.

On April 1, 2001, mandatory 10-digit dialing will begin in eastern Massachusetts. At that time, if all 10 digits are not used when dialing a number, then the call will not be completed. These and additional numbers are available via our website at: http://www.eticomm.net/access/
