Specific Instructions for NJCC Users

* IMPORTANT SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT *
(please review this announcement in it's entirety as soon as possible)

We would like to thank you for choosing ETI as your Internet Provider of choice. We promise to do our very best to deliver an unsurpassed level of service and assistance.

We have been working hard to make the transition from the NJCC system to the ETI system as effortless for you as is technically possible. Due to certain differences between the two systems, there are a few settings that you SHOULD change in order to use the service. We have outlined these for you below.

Important Notes:

  • Please be assured that your email address and password have NOT changed!
  • Please visit http://help.eticomm.net/ for On-Line Help Desk support. A great place to find information on solutions to settings and configuration options for the software you may be using.

DIRECT DIAL ACCESS: (PLEASE MAKE THIS CHANGE ON OR AFTER JAN 1, 2005)

If you currently dial into NJCC's system for Internet access, you need to make these changes to your dialer settings.

Old Login Name (NJCC): username

New Login Name (ETI) : username@eticomm.net

Use the SAME PASSWORD that you have been using. It has NOT changed!

EMAIL SERVICES: (PLEASE MAKE THIS CHANGE AFTER 5PM OF DEC 26, 2004)

Only 3 items SHOULD be changed in your email program: (use settings without quotes)

  1. OLD Incoming (POP3) Mail Server: "pop.njcc.com" or "pluto.njcc.com"
NEW Incoming (POP3) Mail Server: "pop3.eticomm.net"

  2. OLD Outgoing/Sending (SMTP) Mail Server: "mail.njcc.com" or "pluto.njcc.com"
NEW Outgoing/Sending (SMTP) Mail Server: "mail.eticomm.net"

  3. OLD SMTP Authentication: OFF
    NEW SMTP Authentication: ON

In order to SEND email using the ETI Email System, your email program; such as Outlook or Outlook Express; SHOULD be configured to use (TURN ON) "SMTP Authentication". This tells our Email System that you are a valid user and then provides permission to SEND. This is a security feature of the ETI Email system which prevents Spammers and outsiders from using the ETI Email Servers to send out Spam or Junk email.

Additional detailed instructions can be found at http://help.eticomm.net/

Turning ON "SMTP Authentication":

MS Office Outlook Example:

  • Start your email program.
  • Open your configuration settings; usually by clicking on TOOLS, then EMAIL ACCOUNTS or ACCOUNTS.
  • If you get a WIZARD - hit NEXT. If no WIZARD, select the MAIL tab.
  • Double click the default email account (your NJCC email account).
  • Leave Name as is.
  • Leave email address as is (even if it's user@njcc.com or user@pluto.njcc.com).
  • If you are in a WIZARD you will see the INCOMING and OUTGOING/SENDING Server settings.
  • If you are not in a WIZARD then Select the SERVERS tab.
  • Change INCOMING (POP3) Mail server setting to "pop3.eticomm.net".
  • Change OUTGOING/SENDING (SMTP) Mail Server to "mail.eticomm.net".
  • Leave the USERNAME and PASSWORD the same - NO CHANGE.
  • If you in a WIZARD, pick MORE SETTINGS, Look for a setting similar to: "My server requires authentication" and select it (turn it on with a checkmark in the box). If there is a "SETTINGS" button near this, click on it. Select (turn on) "Use same setting as my incoming mail server" if it's not already turned on.

PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE YOUR USERNAME OR PASSWORD. THESE HAVE NOT CHANGED.

Click "OK" or "Save" or "Finish" which will save these changes.

Your "user@njcc.com" or "user@pluto.njcc.com" email addresses are still usable, and will continue to be. You can use "user@eticomm.net" should you so choose to, at any time.

If you have a Virtual Domain and use it for your email address; i.e.; user@mydomain.com, that too has not changed and is useable.

THAT'S IT ! YOU'RE DONE !! No more changes !!! Congratulations.. :)

IMPORTANT !! IMPORTANT !! IMPORTANT !! IMPORTANT !!

ETI will be cutting over from the NJCC Email System to the ETI Email System on Sunday, Dec 26th, 2004 between 2pm to 5pm. During this time we ask that you not attempt to access your email. The reason for this is so that we can ensure all email up to that point and during the transition is saved and not lost.

After this transition, the changes to your email software, listed above; MUST HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. **Your email software will not work without the above changes.** If the above setting changes are NOT made, you will NOT be able to SEND emails, possibly receive emails, or even connect to the Internet.

If you need any assistance with any of the above, please first try our On-Line Help Desk located at http://help.eticomm.net/. If you need further assistance, please contact our Customer Care Team at 856-753-3810.

Once again WELCOME to ETI

We wish you and yours a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.
