Modem Help

There are some issues with modems using Rockwell and Lucent Technologies ( LT ) chipsets. Such modems usually come standard with IBM, Compaq, Hewlett Packard ( HP ), Packard Bell, and E-Machines computers. To check to see if you modem is using a Rockwell or LT chip set, use www.modemhelp.org or www.56k.com. These sites will also give suggestions on how to fix connection speed issues, disconnections, and non-connections. Our suggestion is to either try a firmware/driver upgrade on the modem or place init strings in the modem properties.

To place init strings in Win95/98:

1. Go to Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel.
