Uploading Files Using FTP
The alternative to using the Publish Feature to upload
pages to your website is to use File Transfer Protocol, or FTP.
In order to do this, you will need an FTP client, such as CuteFTP.
As with HTML editors, there are many FTP clients for you to choose
from, but for the most part they all have similar functions. Once
you install the FTP client on your local machine, you will be able
to use it to access other FTP sites on the Internet, as well as
upload your files to your ETI Account. You can download FTP client
software from Tucows
or Download.cnet.com and
numerous other sites.
In order to upload your files, you will need some basic
information. Please refer to the information provided here for the
settings of your FTP client. If you log in with your username and
password, you will find yourself in your home directory. Once you
connect to the FTP server, verify the directory you are currently
in and change to the directory location where you want your files
to reside. Then simply use the standard upload feature for the client
you are using.
